Ki-Hara Resistance Stretching Group Class

Please RSVP with me by sending a DM to my Instagram account. This will allow me to have an idea of how many are coming so that I bring the appropriate amount of materials as well as when connecting with the studio and cafe.

A major component to creating balance and wellness in the body that many of us lack (myself included) is stretching. Here is more on the Ki-Hara method and it’s benefits:

The Ki-Hara Method

The Ki-Hara Method of Resistance Stretching is a new and innovative form of bodywork that increases strength and flexibility while improving overall well being. During a session, the client continuously contracts their muscles while the trainer gently pushes them into a stretch. By stretching and strengthening the body dynamically in safe ranges, we keep the muscles and joints safe from injury.

The basic premise behind the Ki-Hara Method is the true definition of the word Flexibility - the ability to bend. In Ki-Hara Resistance Stretching we keep muscles strong THROUGHOUT their ranges of motion in order to build elastic muscles, thus not only allowing muscles to lengthen but to properly shorten.  This allows the body to fold. The inability to fold is what causes muscle cramping or feeling jammed.

When stretched, muscles release toxins and allow for the movement of energy throughout the body. Physical flexibility helps facilitate overall flexibility and health in body and mind. A certified Ki-Hara Resistance Stretching Trainer can work with you to address your specific needs.

Ki-Hara Resistance Stretching has many benefits:

  • increased flexibility

  • reduced sports injury

  • increased strength

  • decrease recovery time

  • increased muscle tone

  • reduction in back pain, shoulders, and neck (can somebody say YAAASSSUH!?)

  • a full body workout

  • improved posture

Ki: The circulating life energy that in Eastern philosophy is thought to be inherent in all things.

Hara: The vital center of the self, the focus of existence. It is located one and a half inches below the navel and one and a half inches inward toward the spine (also the body’s central axis). Energy (chi/ki/prana) is stored in the Hara where it is heated before spreading throughout the body.

Ki-Hara is the next evolution of bodywork - removing the knots that keep our Ki from circulating properly.  Ki-Hara's efficiency makes it ideal for those who don't have time for many different forms of work - incorporating pain removal, flexibility training, strength training and soft tissue manipulation in each move.  Be active in your recovery - Stretch Stronger.

Mashing

Mashing is another component of Ki-Hara that prepares the

muscles for stretching and aids in recovery.  Most assisted Ki-Hara sessions involve mashing to warm up the body or help flush toxins from the muscles. In this technique, the trainers use their feet to release myofascial tissue and improve healthy blood flow to damaged areas to allow muscles to stretch more effectively.

Feb #LivelyGang Meetup: Pure Barre (Fulton River District)

SCHEDULE HERE.

For Feb it’s about low impact and high results! We’ll be lifting, toning, and burning at Pure Barre in the Fulton River District. It’s been over a year since I’ve taken a barre class and lemme tell you, if you think this is a class for punk asses, THINK AGAIN!!! This class is going to have your ups and thighs, and parts of your body you don’t even know exist ON FIRE. I’m NOT EXAGGERATING. Be sure to have sticky socks with no toe cut outs as you cannot workout without the socks, a water bottle, and your cutest workout gear. #yas! You’ll want to pay attention to the instructors cues, feel the burn, and vibe to the music as this is a beat driven workout (which makes it bearable!) lol.

Studio: Pure Barre at Fulton River District

Location: 625 W Lake St, Chicago, IL 60661

Date + Time: Sunday February 17 at 11am (plus an optional 30 minutes to “qui qui” and connect). Please reserve your spot at least 3 days prior to class as spots fill up quickly! Please include that She’s Lively referred you in the “notes” section when you reserve. I would so appreciate that! :)

Cost: $30 or (price for newbies TBD) // We were able to take a class for $8!!!

Class Description: Our tried and true Pure Barre technique sculpts long, lean physiques in record time. Come Lift. Tone. Burn. with us!

What to Expect: Click to learn more on what to expect in class.

What to Bring: Purre Barre recommend that you arrive 10-15 minutes before class begins. Once you fill out a short waiver, the teacher will show you where you can leave your belongings and help you get the equipment you’ll be using during the day’s class – typically a set of light weights, a ball, and a tube. Your teacher will bring you a mat halfway through class. Once you’ve got everything you need, just find a spot in the studio where you feel comfortable, facing the front mirror.

Late/Cancellation Policy:

  • You must cancel 3 hours prior to class start time to avoid $15 late cancel fee (with unlimited packages) or loss of a class (with a class pack).

  • NO late arrivals are admitted to class. You must be in class when class starts. This is for your safety and the safety of others.

  • Plan to stay for the entire class. Leaving early is disruptive to other clients.

  • If you are NEW, arrive 15 mins early so we can get you checked in and safely set up for class. If we don't have enough time for you to meet your teacher, discuss injuries/modifications, get your waiver, etc. you may be asked to reschedule.

  • Wear socks that cover your feet (no wraps or toe cuts outs please). (Socks are available for purchase at the studio for about $15. You can also grab sticky sock from Amazon. I like to wear these socks around the house in comparison to slippers, so you can still get good use out of them even if you only ever take 1 PB class)

  • Wear workout pants, leggings, or shorts to at least the knee. This not only keeps your legs warm, but is far more comfortable when using certain equipment like resistance tubes on the lower body. Trust us ;)

  • If you have any other questions, feel free to call or text the studio at 312-877-5599.

Class Duration: 50 minutes

Childcare: There are no childcare services offered at this time at this studio.

My Spot: You must reserve your spot by purchasing your class pass in advance.

Instructor: Jen Richert

After Class: We’ll meetup for 30 minutes after our barre sesh at the Starbucks at 600 W Lake St, Chicago, IL 60661 to grab a coffee/tea, chat, and connect.
